Summary: cord winder
Comment: I bought two one works very well, the other was shipped with parts missing. I contacted the company with a number provided in the instr. They are shipping repacement parts

Summary: Works well, after a problem was fixed
Comment: I've now owned my Wonder Winder 18 months. It worked well the first summer, then stopped working (the winding wheel turned, but just slipped against the cord). I called the maker and they sent replacement parts for free (a new tread for the wheel and a spare), but that didn't solve the problem. They also offered me my money back if it didn't work. I called again, and this time they correctly diagnosed the problem (a stuck roller on the yoke) and told me how I could fix it myself. A few minutes later it was working again and I was a happy camper.

The winder works for me with two heavy-duty cords with a total length of over 100', though together they completely fill the net basket. (If I needed a longer cord, it would be trivial to make the basket bigger.) The only way I see that the product could be improved would be if the wall-mount bracket were made to swivel. The current design rigidly attaches the winder to the wall, perpendicular to the wall. That sticks out into my workspace when I'm not using it. And since I pull the cord out to the side rather than straight, I worry that a very strong yank on the cord might snap the mount. (It would have to be a strong pull; the thing is reasonably robustly built.)

Overall, I'm very satisfied with the product and with the maker's customer service. I'll probably buy a second one at some point to use in my basement.

Summary: Decent Product, Some Critical Design Flaws
Comment: Let me start by saying that I am now reviewing this product after three years of use through all four seasons for work from snow blowing to tree trimming. It's a good product that has one major design flaw that keeps it from being great. The entire system depends on a wheel that uses friction to pull the cord into the basket. I've found that the rubber on the wheel hardens and is unable to apply enough friction in cold weather. Keep in mind that I'm talking about sub-zero temperatures--something that you may or may not experience depending on your location. Next, water absolutly kills the friction. I've seen some reviewers say that this has not been a problem for them, so take it with a grain of salt. Lastly, after heavy use for three plus years the treads on the wheel have worn out and the remaining smooth surface cannot provide enough friction to wind the cord.

In the future I would recommend the manufacturer use a more rubberized, pliable, and longer-lasting material for the wheel itself. Also be aware that performance will vary depending on the cord itself. You need to use something that is pliable and rubbery. The more slick and stiff the cord the more likely you are to get some slippage. Lastly, do yourself a favor andbolt this into a stud or use some expanign lag shields in concrete. The amount of pressure combined with the winding motion will quickly work the small anchors included with the winder out of the wall.

In short, this product would be perfect for indoor use since weather conditions (wet or extreme cold) affect performance. Ideal for light users, but heavy use will eventually wear the wheel down. For less than $20 I suppose three year's heavy use isn't all that bad. I just wish that they would change up the material for the wheel itself since this is a single point of failure.

Summary: Wish it worked as well as it sounds
Comment: It the Wonder Winder worked as well as described it would be a great product. Unfortunately, it doesn't. The main problem I experience is that it won't rewind a 12 gauge 3 wire cord AT ALL - the cord simply slips between the drive wheel and what they call the "yoke" and won't feed into the basket. I tried it with 16 gauge 3 wire cord and had the same problem - no rewinding. Maybe if the yoke wasn't made from pretty flimsey plastic, more pressure could be brought to bear on the winding wheel and it would grip the cord better. But as it is, it doesn't work for me AT ALL and it's going to be returned. One other thing - the actual size of the net cord basket is much smaller than in the picture.

Summary: yes, 14 years
Comment: For those who feel this lightweight winder isn't durable, I bought one of these for my father for my parents' anniversary 14 years ago. It has seen them through house renovations, yard work, motorcycle repairs and a move, being mounted, remounted, moved and remounted again. It's lightweight enough that you don't have to strain to wind it and the cord unwinds perfectly every time. After all this time the piece that attaches to the wall mount is the only thing that is about to give way due to a chip of the plastic breaking off, giving the tool a slight droop as it hangs off the wall. It is, however, fully operational and otherwise in good working order. I have purchased another for my father, not to replace the one he has, but because he requested one for his shed as well. It may not feel heavy duty but like anything, will last when properly taken care of.
